Photography Outing: Thursday, July 26th.

Hey folks,

My buddy Dan and I are tentatively planning a photography outing to the UW-Arboretum here in Madison this Thursday, July 26th. Is anyone interested in joining us? We'll be hitting the trails for a good bit of hiking and photography. I think we'll be planning on getting to the Arboretum around 5:30PM. The plan will be to meet in the parking lot outside the visitor center (take the entrance off of Seminole Highway to get there) around 5:30 and then head off to shoot pics by 5:45. (let me know if you're coming so I can give you my cell ...latecomers can then call my cell to find out where we are) Oh...and if you come...we recommend bringing bugspray. The mosquitos are NASTY by the wetlands boardwalk and ponds. Okay...so anyone who is interested please shoot me an email back and I'll coordinate things. I'll be coming from campus with Dan, so I could provide a ride for up to 2 people to and from campus. Remember, the point of this is to have fun, be around other people who are passionate about photography, and to learn from each other. It doesn't matter how good or bad your camera or skills are. It's the process of learning it that matters...and we're ALL learning. So if you like taking photos, consider joining us!


ALSO...this is for all of you Wisconsin deviants out here...there is a group created just for us! ~cheeseheads was created by a couple of Wisconsite deviants to help organize events, devmeets, and share Wisconsin themed artwork in their gallery. So, if you're from wisconsin (current or in the past), or just love wisconsin...go check it out, give them a :+devwatch:, and ask to be a member. Alright, that's it for me for now.

Hmm...macro lens...

I seem to update this thing fairly infrequently...so I guess it's about time. Well, I've had my lovely Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi (I LOVE the deals on amazon.com) for about 3 months now. It's been a blast playing with it and I've gotten what I would consider some decent images from it. Much better than my old point and shoot Powershot anyway. The kit lens just has many limitations and I feel myself being held back from what I really want to do with it. At least I'm getting to that point now. Sooooo...I found a lovely macro lens (I really love macro photography and am feeling myself being drawn there the strongest at this point) on amazon.com. It's the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Digital SLR Lens. I played with it at a camera store here in town yesterday...just to get a feel for it. Man that thing is sharp! It really does only have a 4 inch distance to your subject for focussing. It's $450 at the store, but only $350 on amazon.com. Needless to say I'm getting it on amazon.com. At least, after going through my finances I've decided that I can afford it. So I'm quite excited to get this lens...which is also described as being a good portrait lens as well. That's a good thing because I want to also start photographing human subjects more. So far I'm really enjoying using Ethan and Alcey as subjects, so it only makes sense to push myself in that direction too. Who knows...maybe I'll really begin liking what I'm seeing enough to push myself into looking at photography as a viable career. I'm certainly not at that point yet...but that seems to be where my passion lies at the moment. They do say that the way to find happiness is to follow your heart...so we'll see. I'll take it a day at a time and see where it leads me.

Heya folks!

I got a new camera!!! YUS!! :D :w00t: :dance: Friday I received a package containing my very first DSLR. I got the Canon EOS 400D (Digital Rebel XTi). It's a beautiful camera...and pretty dang good for an entry level DSLR. I would've preferred the Canon EOS 30D, but alas, definitely could not afford that...lol. So you may actually be seeing some photography deviations from me! How about that! :D Anyway, that's my little update.

Greetings!!

Thought I would pop in and give just a few recommendations from me.

Music = I:Scintilla.

My god I'm addicted to this band!!!! Click the banner above to go to their website. You can use their iPod player to listen to their songs online. I HIGHLY recommend them! They are an industrial rock band, and if you like Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, NIN, etc, you'll probably like this band. Check out the songs Cursive Eve, Havestar, and The Bells. Those are probably my faves that you can listen to on their iPod player. They have a new album coming out in May too! YUS!!!! :headbang:



Music Video = Living Dead Girl/Underworld.

Okay, so take one of my favorite songs (Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie) and set it to clips from one of my favorite movies (Underworld) Anyway, I know it's been out awhile, but GO CHECK IT OUT! Here's the link: [link] I recommend downloading the 41Mb high-resolution version of course. ;)
